DESCRIPTION:The Twin Cities Film Festival will screen a documentary film by Matthew Koshmrl\, Land of My Father\, about the story of the territory dispute between Japan and South Korea over the Dokdo Islands.  It details the stories of two activists. One is a Korean farmer who protests the Japanese government regularly in Tokyo\, after finding out his father was abducted and enslaved in a coal mine during the Japanese occupation of Korea. The second is a woman who lived on Dokdo with her father\, and considers Dokdo her homeland. She struggles to keep her father’s legacy alive after the Korean government mysteriously erases the history of their family as pioneering residents of this remote island group. \nThis screening includes a short Q and A with the filmmaker and the producer Christina Kim. The film will be shown at 4:30 p.m. Friday\, October 29\, at the Showplace Icon Theaters\, 1625 West End Blvd\, Minneapolis.  The film festival price is $12.
