Giving Voice to the Korean American Community
A virtual conference, Asian American Studies Now, will be held October 26 to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Asian American Studies program at New York University. The program was launched when a group of students came together, and with faculty support, began organizing for the first Asian American Studies course, and a program. The Asian/Pacific/American Studies program was founded in 1996.The program will welcome back alumni and faculty who were instrumental in the historic founding.
In the 1990s, college students in the Midwest and on the east coast began to fight for the establishment of Asian American studies programs. This movement came nearly three decades after the pivotal student strikes in Califormia that led to the nations first Asian American studies programs there.
The conference will begin at 4 p.m. EST, 3 p.m. CST. o register for this historic conference see the below link.
