Giving Voice to the Korean American Community
Twin Cities percussionist Eri Isomura and Richardson Handjaja Kilis, who plays Korean traditional drums, will team up for an original duo piece Chilchae for Janggu and Marimba as part of Isomura’s Summer Marimba Recital to be held at Studio Z in St. Paul on Sunday, June 25.
Also in the program is Isomura’s first composition featuring marimba and electronics, and selections from her new solo percussion album 12 Months in Minnesota.
Isomura is a freelance performer and piano instructor who plays in orchestras, recitals, choirs, musicals and recording projects locally. She is a founding member of the Wave Chamber Collective and a member of the Heartland Musical Ensemble. Kilis is a performer in the Twin Cities Korean traditional drum troupe Shinparam.
The recital will be held at 3 p.m. Studio Z is located at 275 4th St, Ste. 200, St. Paul. The event is free, with a suggested donation of $20.
